Great idea to blog the updates!
Can you confirm that the H1N1 Injectable vaccine contains "Thimerosal" in the single or multi dose. And are you using single or multidose techniques for the immumization?
By California law, all vaccines given to children under the age of 3 must not contain Thimerosol.
However, because of the pandemic nature of the H1N1 influenza virus the Governor issueed a waiver to the manufactures, so that the vaccine could be produced as quickly as possible.
We have received single dose prefilled syringes of the vaccine for 6 months to 3 years.
As of today, we assume we are receiving prefilled syringes of the vaccine for 3 years and older. (we won't know for sure until it arrives).
The formulation does contain trace amounts of thimerosol.
The single dose vials do not have thimerosal.
Multi-dose vials will have trace amounts of thim, which is about half ethyl mercury which is excreted by the kidneys. (There has never been any danger known to occur to the human body from exposure to this element in this form, espeically in this minute amount.. The CDC has numerous articles regarding the safety of using this preservative.)
